Description: Services for victims of domestic violence. Forensic nurses provide medical care and document an assault (including forensic photography and testimony) for court. They offer free public education presentations. There is preferred access through the Emergency Department at Windsor Regional hospital. The Program includes: •Confidential medical treatment and psychological support to the victim of domestic violence. •Testing and treatment for victims of domestic violence. •Photographic documentation of injuries in the event the victim chooses to take legal action. •Referral to appropriate community agencies including Hiatus House. •Follow up by the Domestic Violence Nurse to help the victim with any problems or concerns. •Education to the community of the medical aspects of the domestic violence.
