Description: Access centre to apply for LEAP (Low-Income Energy Assistance Program) one-time emergency financial assistance. The program runs throughout the year and offers a maximum grant of $500 per fuel per household per year. The grant is credited directly toward electricity bill. THe agency may be able to arrange a hold on a disconnection notice while a case is being reviewed and all decisions can be appealed.

Referral: Application process required. There is a pre-screening by telephone before an in-person interview, documents required for the interview include proof of lease or mortgage, proof of household income and recent bank statement
Restrictions: May be available to low-income customers of electricity distributors (and unit sub-metering providers) experiencing difficulty paying current arrears, decision will be based on several factors including long-term viability of the account. A disconnection notice is not required to be eligible.
